The NEXUS project is being carried out by a consortium (co-led by ARTTIC and Rolls-Royce Marine) made up of 6 recognised and experienced key players from 4 different EU member states. The consortium consists of ARTTIC, Rolls-Royce Marine AS, University of Strathclyde, GONDAN Shipbuilders, DNV GL AS, Global Marine Group and SINTEF Ocean.
SINTEF Ocean is an independent, internationally leading non-profit marine technology research company in the Norwegian SINTEF Group, one of Europe’s largest independent research organizations. SINTEF Ocean has more than 60 years of experience in the development of cost-effective, high performance ships for the Shipping Industry.
Thanks to its versatile testing facilities, SINTEF Ocean will cooperate with Rolls-Royce Marine AS in work package 8 to establish a test program to evaluate the performance and capabilities of the designed vessel. The model testing will highlight the capabilities and limitations of the new design. Furthermore, SINTEF Ocean will participate in task 8.7 towards the development and integration of simulation models which adhere to both Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU) and Open Simulation Platform (OSP) standards. These approaches will apply for SOV hull, environment, and propulsion simulations in SINTEF Ocean's Vessel Simulator (VeSim) for real time simulation of operational scenarios in the Digital Test Tank.
